Measuring Instructions

Get a Perfect Fit for Your Gown

For the best fit, DON'T GUESS at your size. These dresses run about ONE SIZE SMALLER than your normal clothing size.

Measure first - then determine your size from the size charts listed with the dress. Order the size that comes closest to your measurements. If between sizes, choose the larger size as it is always easier to alter the dress down than to let it out. Remember, the size will not be displayed on the dress when you are wearing it. Don't get hung up on numbers. You'll look best in a dress that fits, no matter what the size.

Here's How to Measure

Measure over undergarments, keep measuring tape level and pull it snug, but not tight. (If you will be wearing special undergarments with your dress, measure over those.) Don't have a measuring tape? Just use a piece of string then measure it with a ruler!

A. BUST: Measure at the fullest part over an unpadded bra (or the undergarments you will wear with the dress).
B. WAIST:
Measure at natural waist (generally the smallest part - about 2 inches above the belly button).
C. HIPS:
Measure around fullest part of hips (often where the legs bend), keeping tape level all around.

Hollow to Hem
Measure from the base of the neck (hollow of the neck) to the floor. This measurement is typically only for girls dresses (i.e: flower girls). If this measurement is important you will see a note on the dress product. All junior & womens dresses are made to fit heights of 5'8" - 5'9" (unless otherwise stated on the product). See our FAQs for more information.

Prom Hair Styles

A great prom hair style is so important for your prom look! To make sure you look your absolute best on your big night be sure to plan ahead. It's a good idea to practice your prom hair updo several weeks before your prom to see how long it will take, what items you will need, and if it's really the style for you and your dress. If you're having your hair done at a salon, make an appointment well in advance and take along a picture to show your stylist exactly what you want. Your prom pics will be great and you'll have more fun as you dance the night away.

Dressing Your Maids

The first step to choosing a bridesmaid gown is to determine the formality, style and fabric of the wedding gown so that the maids gowns do not overpower the bride. Choose the color first to narrow choices. You might want to begin choosing a gown style with the larger maids in mind. In recent years, prices have declined making the average maid's dress only $140. With careful selection, your bridesmaids will be happy with the final results and spend the wedding day celebrating with the bride and her groom.
